From rehabilitation for chronic pain to performance programs for active clients

Knee pain can be complex in nature and the development of chronic pain can present a difficult challenge for therapists. The scientific understanding of knee injuries has progressed rapidly in recent years but it can be difficult to keep up with the advances in management strategies.

This course is designed to provide you with the clinical skills and scientific knowledge to manage a range of presentations; from chronic anterior knee pain and OA to acute traumatic injury. You’ll develop your skill in designing bespoke, effective treatment plans that will help your patients to move better feel better and perform better. The course will include problem solving sessions, to help you gain new perspectives on challenging cases.

What you will Learn:

  • Current concepts in managing a range of knee pain presentations from tendinopathies and anterior knee pain to traumatic sports injuries.

  • Practical methods to introduce strength and conditioning progressions into rehabilitation sessions (we will have a selection of strength training equipment on hand, to allow you to gain confidence in introducing strength moves to your clinical toolbox).

  • Effective prehabilitation (injury prevention) programs for a variety of clinical presentations, from field sport and running athletes.

  • How to use simple video analysis to optimize movement patterns, enhance performance and reduce injury risk.

  • How to design practical and enjoyable programs to suit the knee OA patients.

  • How to implement graded exercise programs, using cognitive strategies; to maximize confidence, pain reduction and patient enjoyment.

The course will place a strong emphasis on developing skill in applying these new strategies and solving common clinical problems.

Venue: Priory Clinic, Priory Hall, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. The course will be held in the open plan teaching lab in the Priory.

Date: Sat 13th April 2019 (9AM-6PM) 8 Hours for CPD requirements.
